Bosch Digital Twin - IAPM launches with Prescient Edge Data Pipeline

What You Need to Know

  • Solution supports high-speed, high-fidelity IO-Link sensors

  • Automatically detect sensors and provision solution

  • Delivered solution in one month to meet tight release deadline

Introduction

The Bosch Digital Twin – IAPM is an AI-powered Integrated Asset Performance Management System built based on natural intelligence and first principles. It is a dynamic software model of a physical asset or process that relies on sensor and instrumentation data to understand its state, respond to changes, predict outcomes, improve operations and aid judgements for business decisions. This world-class solution transforms traditional workforce into an interdisciplinary digital workforce and enables C-suite to drive business outcomes.

Challenges

Like any effective data solution, high-quality data is crucial to the success. The Bosch Digital Twin requires high-speed, high-fidelity data from sensors, PLCs, and industrial assets. Bosch customers are all over the world, and they have different data sources, protocols, and OT/IT requirements, posing a major challenge for Bosch to supply its digital twin solution quickly to customers.

Solution

Bosch partnered with Prescient to deliver edge data to its cloud. Prescient’s distributed functional block programming technology can quickly customize a data pipeline solution for a customer, enabling data delivery within a few days. For example, Prescient’s IO-Link data pipeline solution automatically recognizes the type of sensor attached to the IO-Link master, downloads the correct IODD configuration file, validates and contextualizes the sensor data, and delivers the post-processed, high-quality data to Bosch’s cloud endpoint.

Prescient’s experience with hardware and security has also helped Bosch to accelerate deployment. Prescient worked with Bosch’s hardware partner to debug sensor issues and built an automated, remotely-accessible sensor test platform. Prescient worked with Bosch’s customers to meet their IT/OT security requirements. These efforts enabled Bosch to get data into its cloud quickly to generate business value for customers in the shortest possible time.

“The speed at which Prescient delivers its data solutions is impressive and enabled us to meet our tight release deadline,” says Matthias Wieland, Manager of the Bosch Digital Twin – IAPM platform, “the flexibility and the scalability of the solution also means that we can support any data requirements at scale.”

Conclusion

The Bosch Digital Twin – IAPM starter kit enables customers to quickly install sensors and monitor the performance of their machines. The starter kit can be purchased at Bosch or via AWS Marketplace.
